Trash Recycling Program
· The Borough of State College implemented a recycling program, intended to reduce the solid wastes presently going to or landfill.
· All residents are required, by law, to recycle.
· Materials collected for recycling in the residential curb side program are newspaper, glass, steel and aluminum cans, and plastic.
· Special programs also exist for the proper disposal of waste motor oil, batteries tires, household hazardous chemicals, etc.
· The Boroughs’ recycling program is carried out by the Centre County Solid Waste Authority.
· Their offices are located at 253 Transfer Road, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, 16823.

· To begin residential recycling, you must call the Centre County Solid Waste Authority.
· They will provide you with a red recycling bin, information on what to put out for collection and the day for the day of the week your recyclables will be collected.
· On collection day, you must place your red bin at the curb.
· Collectors will empty the bin during the day.
· The bin should be returned to your residence that same day and stored in a place not visible form the street.
· Materials collected include: clear, amber or green glass bottles and jars; aluminum beverage cans; bi-metal and steel food and beverage containers; P.E.T. plastic soda bottles; H.D.P.E. plastic milk and water jugs; newspaper, magazines/ catalogs, mixed office paper and corrugated cardboard.
· All containers should be free of foreign matter and lids.
· Newspapers must be dry.
