Dan Community Engagement bio_thumb.pngDane Vanover

Dane Vanover is a problem-solving, music-loving, communications-studying student entrepreneur. He is currently a junior studying Public Relations at Penn State with minors in Spanish and entrepreneurship. Prior to working for the Borough, Dane worked in the news bureau at Penn State Outreach where he mostly focused on writing stories about student entrepreneurship for the Small Business Development Center.

Last year he also helped launch a student-run mobile application development and event hosting company. Dane has been involved with the University’s Student Programming Association (SPA) since his freshman year, helping to bring alcohol-free events to campus for students. Through SPA he also worked on Penn State’s annual music festival, Movin’ On (2014) as their executive board’s SPA Liaison. Dane has also been on communications committees for Penn State’s IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) since his freshman year and hopes to continue his involvement with a public relations committee for THON 2015.

In his free time Dane enjoys writing, recording, performing and/or listening to music (did we mention he loves music?) as well as playing golf or tennis. Dane dreams of owning his own business and being able to contribute to the community and society in some way, whether that be his own venue, a consulting firm for other start-up companies or some other great idea that has yet to come to realization.
