Who Provides Medical Services in State College?
Here are some of the services available locally:
Out-patient services for health care such as Well-Child care and checkups, tuberculosis, immunizations, AIDS screening and related medical services are available through the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The State Health Department may be contacted by calling (814) 865-0932.
Residents, who do not have health insurance or limited health insurance and need primary care, may contact the Centre Volunteers in Medicine. They may be contacted by calling (814) 231-4043.
Pregnancy testing, family planning and contraception, treatment for sexually-transmitted diseases and the women, infants, children program, called WIC, are available through Centre-Huntingdon Tapestry of Health. They may be contacted by calling (814) 355-2762.
Victims of sexual or domestic abuse may seek counseling through the Centre County Women's Resource Center. Services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, counseling and support groups, transitional housing and referrals to other appropriate community programs.
