On Tuesday, December 6, 2016, around 11:00 pm, Centre County 911 received a telephone call from an individual stating that a bomb was in the area of Schlow Library.  The subject called back several times making similar threats, also stating he had a gun. The subject also made threats toward responding police officers. State College Police closed off the area to vehicular and pedestrian traffic and called in various local resources to further investigate the threat.  The State College Police was assisted by Penn State University, Ferguson Township, Patton Township, Bellefonte and Spring Township police departments.  The State College/Penn State Bomb team, along with a Pennsylvania State Police K-9 unit, responded.  The area was checked and deemed to be secure and safe around 3:30 am. 
The investigation is continuing regarding the identity of the caller.
