Beta Theta Pi Investigation

The State College Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of PSU Student Timothy Piazza.
Detectives are currently in the process of constructing a time-line of events that will aid in the investigation of this tragic incident.
Additionally, video, witness statements, and other evidence have been obtained by the detectives who are investigating the role(s) that excessive alcohol consumption and Fraternity Hazing activity may have played in the death of Timothy Piazza, who was one (1) of fourteen (14) pledges who were present for a bid acceptance ceremony at the fraternity.
The process of additional evidence collection and analysis, as well as witness identification, remain primary objectives of this investigation.
This investigation remains a high priority for the police department. To maintain the integrity of the investigation, and out of respect for the Piazza family, the State College Police will not be releasing any further details at this time.
The State College Police Department is being assisted by the Centre County District Attorney’s Office, agents from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Enforcement Agency, and representatives from the Pennsylvania State University Office of Student Conduct.
We are urging anyone who may have information regarding this incident to contact the State College Police Department at (814) 234-7150, by email or submit an anonymous tip through our website.
