The State College Police Department took a report from Snappy’s Convenience store at 535 University Drive that they had located a credit/debit card skimmer inside gas pump #1 at their store. It is believed that the device was placed inside the machine between February 28th and March 7th. This device would have allowed for unknown suspects to capture the credit/debit card information to include possible related PIN numbers from parties using the pump.
Anyone using this pump during the above time period is advised to contact their credit/debit card issuer and notify them of the potential breach of their account.
If fraudulent activity is detected, then please contact our department reference this case number, SCP201801820.
The State College Police would like to advise gas stations that this is not the first report of such activity in the State College area and we request their help in closely monitoring their pumps for this type of activity and re-evaluating their pumps’ security measures.
We are urging anyone who may have information regarding this incident to contact the State College Police Department at (814) 234-7150, by email or submit an anonymous tip through our website.
