On Thursday, September 20, 2018 at approximately 7:06 am, the State College Police Department received a report of a vehicle theft. The victim reported that his black Toyota Scion was stolen from the parking lot of Planet Fitness at the Nittany Mall. Video revealed that the suspect removed the victim’s car keys from the storage hooks in the gym lobby at approximately 6:19 am and drove off in the victim’s vehicle.

The victim’s Scion was found at approximately 9:46 pm the same date by Pennsylvania State Police, York station. The victim’s Scion was abandoned along I-83 south near mile marker 24. The victim’s car keys were recovered at the Planet Fitness location on Greensprings Drive in York, PA. The same suspect entered this Planet Fitness location and hung the keys to the Scion up on the storage hooks in the lobby. The suspect then removed a different set of keys from the storage hooks and drove away in a silver Toyota Celica bearing PA registration plate JLK2087. As of this release, the Toyota Celica has not been recovered.

The suspect is described as a black male with facial hair. He was wearing a dark hat with light writing and headphones. It was also noted that he was carrying a backpack.
