73rd Annual Halloween Costume Parade Location Update!

State College, PA: The 73rd Annual Halloween Costume Parade, scheduled for Sunday, October 27, went through some necessary logistical changes this week. Typically, this event is held downtown at the State College Area School District’s Memorial Field, but it had to be relocated this year due to construction at that site.

The October 27th Halloween Costume Parade will have an extended route and will now conclude on the North Field at the State College Area High School. Line-up remains at 6:30 PM in the North Campus parking lot, in front of the Delta entrance, with parade step-off at 7 PM. Parking will remain in the main North side parking lot, in front of the North Field. The parade will return to North Field for costume judging and candy distribution.

For those searching for parking, please be aware that parking will not be available on the South Campus during this event due to the parade route, which will go around the South Building.

While there is some inclement weather predicted for Saturday afternoon into Sunday afternoon, the weather should improve for the evening’s event. Please dress warmly under your costumes and wear appropriate footwear as the North Field may be wet from the earlier rain!

“We certainly hope that everyone still plans to attend even though the event is not downtown this year. The positive aspect of this change is that parking may be a bit easier for our participants with this new arrangement,” said Director Pam Salokangas. “All other aspects of the event such as costume judging, candy distribution, and music remain the same, so please join us and show off those costumes!”

Additionally, Salokangas added that this event would not be possible without the cooperation from State College Borough, State College Police Department, the State College Lions Foundation, and the enthusiastic participation from the State College High School Marching Little Lions!
