Food establishments designated as (yes) under the Compliance column means there were no improper practices or procedures identified as common contributing factors for causing a food borne illness or injury.

Establishments designated as (no) under Compliance means improper practices or procedures were identified as common contributing factors for causing food borne illness or injury.  These improper practices or procedures are ordered corrected and the State College Borough Department of Ordinance Enforcement & Public Health will conduct a follow-up inspection to insure that the violations are corrected and brought into compliance.  Time for re-inspections vary depending on the nature and severity of the violations.

Food establishments having a designation of (yes) in the Certification column means that the establishment has a certified employee with the State College Borough Department of Ordinance Enforcement & Public Health that has been trained in food sanitation and safety.  An establishment having a designation of (no) in the Certification column means that there is not a current certified sanitation employee with the State College Borough Department of Ordinance Enforcement & Public Health.   Sanitation certification is required by Borough ordinance and state law.  Restaurants may have up to 90 days to comply with this requirement.

Complete inspection reports are available at the State College Borough of Department of Ordinance Enforcement & Public Health, 243 S. Allen St. during normal business hours.  Interested persons are requested to make an appointment to review any of the inspections reports.  The telephone number is 814-234-7191.

Please keep in mind that any inspection is a “snapshot” of the day of the inspection.  The inspection conducted on a given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term operation of the establishment.  Also, at the time of the inspection, violations are noted but may be corrected during the inspection and no further action is necessary.
