The Department of Public Works is responsible for providing the following services to the residents of State College Borough:

• engineering;
• construction management;
• refuse collection;
• sanitary sewer collection and conveyance;
• street and alley maintenance;
• storm water collection and conveyance;
• maintenance of traffic signs, signals, and markings;
• snow removal;
• fleet maintenance;
• management and maintenance of street trees;
• maintenance of public lands and parks;
• maintenance of municipal buildings, parking structures and lots, public safety building, and Bellaire Court

Public Works staff provides support to Borough Council and other Borough Departments, as well as the Transportation and Shade Tree Commissions.

Department staff also works closely with:

• Centre Region Parks and Recreation,

• Downtown Improvement District,
• PENNDOT,

• Pennsylvania State University,
• various neighborhood associations,
