Sustainable State College, the Borough's sustainability program, will be hosting the third annual Earth Day celebration. The interest form is now open for those who would like to be a vendor for the Earth and Arbor Day Festival on Tuesday, April 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sidney Friedman Park.

Be a Vendor at the 2026 Earth and Arbor Day Festival 🌎

Sustainable State College, the Borough's sustainability program, will be hosting the third annual Earth Day celebration. The interest form is now open for those who would like to be a vendor for the Earth and Arbor Day Festival on Tuesday, April 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sidney Friedman Park.

Vendors should be an environmental education or information booth, an engagement activity station, a sustainable arts and crafts station, or a food vendor for the public. Information distributed and planned activities should be focused on environmental conservation, sustainability, and climate change initiatives.  

Any vendor that is interested in participating may complete the interest form.

The Tuesday, March 17, and Tuesday, March 24, Zoning Hearing Board meetings have been canceled. The next meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 14, at 12:30 p.m.

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service will be performing additional habitat improvement work at Walnut Spring Park beginning March 9, 2026 (weather pending). The Borough of State College Calder Way improvement Project Phase 2 is set to begin Tuesday, January 20. Construction will take place on Calder Way from South Fraser Street to South Atherton Street.

Calder Way Improvement Project Phase 2 Update

The Borough of State College is writing to provide you with the latest updates regarding Phase 2 of the Calder Way Project.

This past week the contractor continued replacing and upgrading sanitary sewer lines and began exploratory excavation for water. This work will continue next week with additional excavation for storm sewer.

Calder Way from South Fraser Street to Burrowes Street remains closed to vehicular traffic.

Please remember that projects of this nature are fluid and often change, and they can be impacted by inclement weather.

Upcoming Travel Restrictions in the Borough of State College for Tree Pruning Work

From Thursday, February 26, through Saturday, February 28, Cutting Edge Tree Professionals, LLC will be occupying the following streets for tree pruning work:

  • Taylor Street
  • Orlando Avenue
  • Glenn Road
  • South Glenn Circle
  • Fairway Road
  • Westview Avenue
  • Martin Terrace
  • Franklin Street
  • Clarence Avenue
  • Ridge Avenue
  • West Park Avenue
  • Sunset Road
  • Arbor Way

Work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and will cause one travel lane, the parking lane, and the sidewalk to be closed when work is being completed in that area.   • Sunday, April 19, at the State College Municipal Building, starting at 11 a.m. in the Community Room
  • Tuesday, April 21, at the State College Municipal Building, starting at 6 p.m. in the Community Room

Those interested in testing with the State College Police Department should apply to register for a testing date. While applying, interested candidates will need to select their preferred testing date, along with paying a $30 testing fee. Registration for this testing cycle will close on Thursday, April 2.
