COB Data Collection Recommendations to SCPD
At the request of the Community Oversight Board (COB), the State College Police Department (SCPD) recently contracted with the Center for Policing Equity (CPE) to conduct an analysis of how the types of data currently being collected by the SCPD compares to the types of data that the CPE recommends be collected by police departments to enable rigorous data analysis aimed at detecting the possibility of policy disparities.
Based upon the CPE’s analysis, the COB submitted recommendations to the SCPD and Borough Council Manager aimed at improving the SCPD’s data collection practices to enable the future ability to conduct rigorous and systematic analyses of potential disparities in policing practices.
