Types of Permits
Sanitary Sewer Work
Any work done on a sanitary sewer lateral outside of the building requires a Sanitary Sewer Permit and a scheduled inspection by Borough Engineering staff. If work extends into the grass plot, street, or alley, then a Street Excavation Permit is also required.
Street Excavation Work
Work requiring a street excavation permit includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Any underground utility work in the street, grass plot, or alley.
- Driveway entrance work; Engineer approval is required.
Street Occupancy
This permit is required any time the street or grass plot is occupied in order to unload equipment or materials or to store equipment or materials for a short period of time.
How Long Does a Permit Take to be Reviewed?
By Ordinance, Borough staff has 10 business days to issue a permit once they have received a complete application. Applications missing information will not be processed until all items have been submitted.

Please note, a bond (or surety) and proof of insurance for street restoration may be required depending on the work being performed.
