a file #2Centre Tax Agency is open for in-person assistance from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Our office is located on the 1st floor of the State College Borough Municipal Building. If you do not need in-person assistance, you can contact our office by phone at (814) 234-7120, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, or by email at centretaxagency@statecollegepa.us.

Drop boxes are located inside the vestibules of our front and rear entrances. Please use these secure drop boxes after hours for submitting tax returns, payments, and/or correspondence to the tax office. It is important that you place your item inside an envelope prior to using the drop box.

What the Centre Tax Agency Is

The Centre Tax Agency (CTA), also known as the State College Borough, was established as a result of Act 32 of 2008 in order to provide tax collection services for municipalities and school districts within the Centre County Tax Collection District (TCD).

In addition to serving as the Act 32 Earned Income Tax (EIT) Officer, the Centre Tax Agency serves as the Local Services Tax (LST) Officer for the Bald Eagle Area School District, Bellefonte Area School District, Penns Valley Area School District, State College Area School District, and the municipalities (which levy the LST) located within the school districts.

Note: CTA became the LST collector for the Bald Eagle Area School District effective January 1, 2013 for 2013 and future tax years. CTA became the LST Collector for Penns Valley Area municipalities effective January 1, 2019 for 2019 and future tax years.
