CAR-FREE DAY is happening in State College!
Celebrate Car Free Day on Monday, September 22, by walking, biking, carpooling, or using public transit for a chance to win a $50 Downtown Improvement District gift card! Stop by the outside of Schlow Library (corner of Allen Street and Beaver Avenue) between 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a FREE cup of coffee ☕ just for showing up car-free!
How to participate:
✅ Leave the car at home — walk, bike, carpool, or take public transportation (like CATA 🚍) any time between September 22-28.
✅ Register your ride to be entered into a drawing for a $50 Downtown Improvement District Gift Card. Multiple rides can be registered.

The Borough of State College is developing a Climate Action, Resiliency, and Environmental Sustainability Plan in efforts to reduce the community’s greenhouse gas footprint, enhance environmental conservation efforts, and assist the community members in adapting to the impacts of climate change. The Borough is seeking feedback on community priorities and proposed strategies for this plan.

Upcoming Travel Restrictions on B Alley Between East Fairmount Avenue and East Prospect Avenue
On Monday, September 15, and Tuesday, September 16, West Penn Power will be excavating B Alley between East Fairmount Avenue and East Prospect Avenue to replace two existing poles. Work will take place between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. and will cause the entire street to be closed. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution when traveling near work areas. Upcoming Travel Restrictions on Apple Alley Between Orchard Alley and East Foster Avenue
On Tuesday, September 16, Lamberts Cable Splicing will be occupying Apple Alley between Orchard Alley and East Foster Avenue for manhole work. Work will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and will cause one travel lane to be closed. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution when traveling near work areas. Upcoming Travel Restrictions on 400 and 500 Blocks of University Drive
From Monday, September 15, through Thursday, September 18, the Borough of State College's Public Works crews will be preforming asphalt repairs on the 400 and 500 blocks of University Drive. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The roadway will be restricted to one lane during the work with flaggers and signage in place to help guide traffic.
