Save the date for this year’s Juneteenth Celebration Weekend!   This year marks the seventh year that Juneteenth will be celebrated in State College with the theme "Roots, Rhythm, and Resilience: Celebrating Our Legacy." The celebration weekend will take place on Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20. The weekend will start with a Juneteenth Arts and Crafts Exhibition at Woskob Family Gallery at 6 p.m., followed by a Block Party on the 100 Block of Fraser Street on Saturday, June 20, from noon to 6 p.m.

Parking changes for Blue-White weekend

Parking Changes -- Friday, April 24 - Monday, April 27

The Borough of State College Parking Department will lift the “No Parking 2 a.m. to 6 p.m.” and the one- and two-hour restrictions beginning at noon on Friday, April 24.

Event rates will be in effect at all meters, lots and garages beginning at 6 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m. Sunday.

All restrictions will be reinstated at 2 a.m. on Monday, April 27. Lawn parking will not be permitted.

Please note that Pennsylvania Vehicle Code Violations will be strictly enforced:

  • No parking on the sidewalk
  • No parking within an intersection
  • No parking on a crosswalk
  • No parking within 20 feet of crosswalk at an intersection
  • No Parking 30 feet of a stop sign
  • No parking over 12 inches from the curb
  • No parking against traffic
  • No parking in front of driveway
  • No parking anytime

Cars in violation of any of the above violations will be subject to ticketing and towing.

All other non-PA Vehicle Code Violations will be strictly enforced, as well. On-street parking meters and parking lots are enforced from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Preparation work for the installation of pollinator gardens at Holmes-Foster Park and Orchard Park will begin this week. Work entails converting current lawn areas to a native wildflower and forb mix to benefit pollinators and reduce carbon emissions and labor from weekly mowing. Substantial completion of this project is Friday, May 15.    Work on this project will not impact visitors of the parks. This work is being done in cooperation with the Centre County Conservation District.   Questions or concerns regarding this work can be directed to Lance King, Buildings and Grounds Manager, at lking@statecollegepa.us.

Work entails converting current lawn areas to a native wildflower and forb mix to benefit pollinators and reduce carbon emissions and labor from weekly mowing. Substantial completion of this project is Friday, May 15. 

Work on this project will not impact visitors of the parks. This work is being done in cooperation with the Centre County Conservation District.

Upcoming Travel Restrictions on Easterly Parkway Between William Street and South Pugh Street

On Wednesday, April 22, Jeff Tate Paving will be occupying 289-291 Easterly Parkway between William Street and South Pugh Street for parking lot grading and preparation for paving. Work will take place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will cause one travel lane, the parking lane, and the sidewalk to be closed. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution when traveling near work areas. Questions about this project may go directly to Jeff Tate Paving by calling 877-202-2383.


Travel Restrictions on Waupelani Drive Between O'Bryan Lane and Oneida Street

From Monday, April 20, through Friday, May 15, Kinsley Construction will be occupying Waupelani Drive between O'Bryan Lane and Oneida Street for installation of a gas main along Waupelani Drive. Work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and will cause one travel lane and the sidewalk to be closed. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution when traveling near work areas. Celebrate Earth and Arbor Day on Tuesday, April 21

Celebrate Earth and Arbor Day with Sustainable State College from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at Sidney Friedman Park. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment throughout the afternoon. 

Learn about local environmental organizations at a wide range of information booths, enjoy numerous engagement activity stations, and take part in sustainable arts and crafts. There will be live music from local bands and food vendors will also be available. The event is friendly for all ages.
